Best Photography Locations in Banff for Wedding / Engagement Photos | Banff Wedding Photographer
If you're planning a proposal, already engaged, or getting married in the majestic Rocky Mountains, the stunning landscapes of Banff provide the perfect backdrop for capturing your love story. With over a decade of experience photographing couples in this picturesque region, we have discovered some of the most enchanting spots. Here are some most popular locations in Banff that will make your portraits truly unforgettable.
Lake Minnewanka:
Lake Minnewanka is an ideal spot, particularly for a surprise proposal. Located just a short drive from Banff, this picturesque lake offers breathtaking mountain views that attract visitors from all around. Additionally, it's conveniently only a few steps away from the parking area. When planning your engagement or wedding photos, keep in mind that Lake Minnewanka is a popular destination for tourists. During the warmer months, park rangers often close the parking lot when it reaches capacity, so it's essential to plan your timing carefully and have a backup plan ready in case you're unable to park.
Two Jack Lake:
Two Jack Lake, just a quick 15-minute drive from Banff, provides a breathtaking backdrop for portraits without the need for hiking. This spot is perfect for capturing stunning images year-round, whether in winter or summer. If you enjoy winter mountain scenery, the lake is an excellent choice for a delightful ice skating portrait session. With its lush forest surroundings, Two Jack Lake presents beautiful views both from the lakeside and from the elevated road above, making it a versatile photo location in Banff.
3. Bow Lake:
Bow Lake presents a breathtaking panoramic view of the mountains. With its beautiful turquoise waters and magnificent vistas of the surrounding Rocky Mountains, it serves as an ideal spot for couples seeking a more tranquil setting away from the tourist crowds. Aside from the main shoreline, the area tends to be less busy, offering a more secluded atmosphere—just be ready for some unexpected gusts of wind.
4. Crescent Falls:
Crescent Falls, located near the small town of Nordegg, is a breathtaking spot for engagement or wedding portraits. We believe the falls isn’t available for portrait photography anymore, but if you walk to the right side of the parking lot, there is an amazing place for photos. Here are a few examples
5. Peyto Lake:
Peyto Lake is a stunning turquoise gem located in Banff National Park, offering breathtaking views that serve as a perfect focal point. It is quite accessible, and the amount of walking or low-impact hiking required varies based on the viewpoint you choose.
6. Vermilion Lakes
Located just a short distance from the Town of Banff, Vermilion Lakes is a serene and picturesque location that offers a breathtaking backdrop for engagement or wedding portraits.
7. Upper Kananaskis Lake:
Upper Kananaskis Lake in Peter Lougheed Provincial Park provides a breathtaking and adaptable setting for a photoshoot. Renowned for its turquoise waters and magnificent mountain vistas, it offers opportunities for both lakeside and trail-side photography.
There are a lot of very popular places like Lake Louise and Moraine Lake. But those places get lots of visitors from all over the world and its really busy to get photography session done. So, we do not recommend those locations even though they have amazing backdrops.
