Best Photo Locations in Edmonton for Wedding / Engagement Photos | Edmonton Wedding Photographer
Edmonton is full of great locations for wedding / engagement portraits. Here are some locations for you to have a look. Please feel free to let us know if you like any locations, that we haven’t included in this.
Muttart Conservatory (Address: 9626 96a St NW, Edmonton, AB T6C 4L8): (Indoor and Outdoor Both)
Access: Outdoor is accessible to public; Indoor: There is a fee. You can book photoshoots there for wedding portraits too, please contact them for booking your session .
This location is quite unique for Edmonton. You can shoot around all the glass pyramids. there is a small bridge next to it too and in summer they usually have a nice garden with full of flowers too. Here is an example of a shoot we did here.
2. University of Alberta Botanical gardens / Devonian Botanical Gardens: (Address: 51227 AB-60, Parkland County, AB T7Y 1C5)
(Indoor and Outdoor Both)
Access: There is an admission fee. If you are doing photography: there is an extra fee on top of the general admission fees; Please book them few days/weeks before your events as they get booked pretty easily
University of Alberta Botanical Gardens is located about 20-25 mins (drive) far, but it is a beautiful locations. You will have different backdrops for photography. You can go to the Japanese gardens for a lake and a unique wooden bridge or even water falls. Here is an example of photoshoot at University of Alberta Botanical Gardens
You can also plan events like weddings or surprise proposal at Aga Khan Gardens too. Here is an example of surprise proposal that we shot.
University of Alberta Botanical garden has a green house where you can take pictures inside as well. It is very convenient when its raining or during winter.
3. Fairmont Hotel MacDonald (Address: 10065 100 St NW, Edmonton, AB T5J 0N6):
You can take pictures inside the premises only if you are getting married there. Otherwise you can take pictures just outside Hotel Macdonald premises.
Fairmont Hotel MacDonald is a beautiful historical milestone. The architecture inside/outside the building is amazing and you also get an amazing view at the front of the building. We shot a pre-reception session inside the building.
4. Art Gallery of Alberta (Address: 2 Sir Winston Churchill Sq, Edmonton, AB T5J 2C1): (Indoor and Outdoor Both)
Access: Outdoor is accessible to public; Indoor: Has to be booked.
AGA is also a unique landmark of Edmonton. The building it self can be an amazing backdrop for wedding photographs. The indoor has some cool architecture, stairs.
5. Alberta Government House (Address: 12845 102 Ave, Edmonton, AB T5N):
Access: Outdoor (only) is accessible to public.
Alberta Government House is another great location with a great building backdrop and also some beautiful trees around. In summer, they also have a nice garden full of flowers. Here is some images at Alberta Govt House Building.
6. Walterdale Bridge: (Outdoor Only)
Access: Accessible to public. You can park at the Kinsmen Park centre.
Another great place with a unique looking bridge along with downtown on your backdrop. We photographed Preet & Nigel at this location on their Engagement Day.
7. Edmonton City Hall: (Indoor and Outdoor Both)
Access: Accessible to public, you do have to book. Please call the city to find about extra charges
Edmonton City Hall is an well designed building consists of pillars, staircases, and plants. It is great location for Wedding portraits, especially when its snow and cold out there. The lighting inside is pretty amazing too. It is also not quite a busy place, so should be easy to get the photos done.

8. Louise McKinney Park: (9999 Grierson Hill NW, Edmonton, AB T5H 2A4): (Outdoor Only)
Access: Accessible to public. You can park close by as well, there is paid parking spot too.
Louise McKinney Park is located in downtown Edmonton and runs along the North Saskatchewan river. It has walking trails, a beautiful riverside boardwalk and a pedestrian bridge across the North Saskatchewan. This park has a lot of variety to offer. 9. Hastings Lake Gardens (51056 Range Rd 204, Sherwood Park, AB T8G 1E5)
Access: You have to book the location for photography sessions
A short drive southeast of Edmonton, Hastings Lake Gardens provides a variety of excellent photographic backdrops. They have beautiful flower gardens and flower lined walkways. They are setup for outdoor wedding ceremonies with an indoor backup. Their variety includes flower gardens, covered walkways, antique farm machinery, old wooden buildings, a large swing set, and a small lake. It is a great outdoor location for your wedding ceremony too.

10. Citadel Theatre (9828 101A Ave, Edmonton, AB T5J 3C6): (Indoor only)
Access: You have to book the location for photography sessions
The Citadel Theater is located in downtown Edmonton and offers a beautiful red brick backdrop. It also has a two storey slate waterfall and a small tropical garden. Contact 780-428-2129 or weddings@citadeltheatre.com.

11. West Edmonton Mall (8882 170 St NW, Edmonton, AB T5T 4J2): (Indoor)
Access: You have to book the location for photography sessions
Home of the Fantasyland Hotel, there are many locations within the mall that can provide interesting photographic opportunities; including the Santa Maria ship, Galaxyland, Burbon Street, and a variety of store fronts and restaurants.

12. Strathearn Park Lookout (8521 98 Ave NW, Edmonton, AB T6C 4P2):(Outdoor Only)
Access: It’s a public space, so you can just park next to the park and shoot.
This is one of the best lookouts of downtown and skyline.

Access: It’s a public space, so you can just park next to building next to the parking lot.
14. Alberta Legislature (Address: 10800 97 Ave NW, Edmonton, AB T5K 2B6): (Outdoor Only)
Access: Outdoor (only) is accessible to public.

Fort Edmonton Park is among our favorite spots for photography sessions. This expansive park provides a diverse range of photographic opportunities, all within a short travel distance.
